The 91a SQUADRIGLIA is a special edition watch issued in honor of the 91a Squadriglia, known as the “Squadron of the Aces” which was set up in 1917 and included the best Airman of Italian Air Force.
Francesco Baracca, awarded with the prestigious Gold Medal Military Valour, was the leader of 91a Squadriglia and notched up an impressive tally of 34 enemy aircraft in his legendary career becoming his country’s most successful airman of the war. Baracca was called “The Cavalier of the Skies” because of his personal emblem, a black prancing horse.Later his symbol, the prancing horse, became the official logo of Ferrari automobiles.
The 91st is a chronograph watch with double counters and it is equipped by the fine Swiss made automatic ETA 2894-2. The military style dial and Super Luminova technology on hands and index let 91st have full visibility and easy timing reading under any condition. The counters and central second hands are in yellow, which is the distinctive color of Cavenago’s chronographs.
The crown is marked with Cavenago logo and the rectangular chronobuttons re-call the rational and clean design of the dial index and the whole watch itself.
The case is fully brushed taking inspiration of military purpose, 100 meters waterproof and the size (39mm) is compact so that comfortable to wear in any occasion.
The band is stainless steel with marked buckle and also comes with an extra-soft leather strap NATO style in black color.
The sapphire crystal is a bit curved which provides a vintage feeling to the watch; the case back is sapphire display allowing to view the Stunning Swiss ETA 2894-2 movement with personalized rotor. It is mentioned the year of production and piece number on the back (only 99 pieces – #33/99).
The watch comes with Special Edition box and commemorative plate for 91a Squadriglia.
