Zenith’s watchmaking excellence knows no bounds and this Type 20 Annual Calendar might just be all of the evidence needed to prove such a statement. At 48mm wide this is by no means a petit watch, however considering just how much is going on here housed in a traditional pilots watch case, it feels appropriate that this favors being larger.

As with any good pilots watch, the Pilot Montre d’Aeronef Type 20 Annual Calendar starts off by nailing the basics, a matte dial with white contrasting accents for the ultimate in legibility. Dominating cathedral-style ruthenium hands with SuperLuminova command the dial of this piece, something that is certainly needed considering the number of complications on offer here.

Here’s where things get spicy as this Pilot provides the wearer with a ton of information. To start with, two sub-dials occupy the 6 and 9 o’clock positions, a 60 minute elapsed chronograph counter and a running seconds respectively. This watch also displays the current day and month via the 3 o’clock windows as well as the date thanks to the 6 o’clock aperture. All of this mechanical goodness is made possible thanks to the (Yup, you guessed it) El Primero movement, caliber 4054.

Incredibly this watch has all of this information on display and still remains an appropriately legible and uncluttered feeling watch – in our eyes, that’s a win all around!
