Seiko ProspeX Landmaster GMT SBEJ001 46mm Automatic Titanium Power Reserve 200m

The Spacewalk inspired case is something you don’t see every day. The titanium case is finished in multiple finishing, polished on the side of the case and bezel with beautiful satin brushed details on the top of the lugs and bezel. Titanium by nature is a dull material, and it takes a unique technique and experience to finish it to a mirror finishing.

The Landmaster has a total weight of only 170 grams, though it wears like a tool watch on wrist at 46mm wide and 51mm lugs to lugs with a thickness of 15mm. The Landmaster, like its sibling the Landmaster Springdrive ref. SBDB015 has its screw-in crown at 12 o’clock. Its smart placement means it will not dig into the user’s wrist when worn. Although part of the Prospex Land collection, it has a stable water resistance of 200m. The bi-directional GMT compass bezel is unusually tight; in a right way, for a non-ratcheting bezel.

A nice feature on the case back is the information of the GMT world timer scale with its essential specifications.

What we particularly love is Seiko’s use of sapphire crystal on this model. The sapphire crystal treated with Seiko’s proprietary super-clear coating, which makes the glass almost non-existence.

Moving on to the bracelet, it has solid titanium links finished in satin brushed with the lug width of 24mm tapered to 18mm at the buckle side. Seiko’s iconic clasp with on-the-go diver extension found on the Landmaster SBEJ001 similar to those found on the Marinemasters

The dial is something you have to see in person to appreciate. While it might look complicated at first glance, it is very well laid out with all the information you need at a glance. A neat feature found on the dial is the applied three-dimensional hour markers, giving the dial lots of depth and dimensions — the markers and hands filled with Seiko’s LumiBrite.

The watch uses Seiko’s all-new caliber, the 6R64; its an automatic hacking movement operates at 28,800 bph(4 hertz). Complication includes a power reserve indicator at 7 o’clock and a date indicator at 2 o’clock. Furthermore, this movement is a through and through GMT mechanical movement, where the GMT hand is corresponding the adjustable hour hand when one travels across different time zones. All these while maintaining a 45 hours power reserve.
