The beautifully finished case is built to withstand the shocks and pressures that come with serious underwater activity, and the multi-faceted indexes are affixed onto the dial by a swaging process that ensures their resistance against shocks. The hands are thoughtfully differentiated in shape and the generously applied LumiBrite on the hands, markers, and bezel enhances legibility in darkness and depths as far as 200m. The case and band are made with high-intensity titanium, providing scratch and corrosion resistance with a notable weight reduction that’s about 30% lighter than stainless steel. The rotating bezel is designed for simple maintenance and the area around the crown has been crafted to ensure that residue from dirt, sand, or seawater can be easily washed off. SBGA231 is water resistant to a depth of 200 meters, but its versatility means that it’s perfectly suited for dry land, too. This iconic diver’s watch is powered by Grand Seiko’s unique Spring Drive caliber, which combines the motive force of a mainspring with the high precision of a quartz watch.
