The Backstory

Though Cartier may be so closely associated with angular case shapes that the appearance of any square watch may elicit an, “Is that a Cartier?,” the Cartier universe is rich with other shapes and designs that stray from the well-known dimensions of the Santos and Tank.

One such departure from these square faces is the Roadster series, an early 2000s homage to the “golden age of sports cars” in the 1950s. The voluptuous curves of the watch do indeed resemble the great cars of the ’50s and like many of those famous automobiles, the Roadster watch was manufactured for far too short a time. Released in 2001 and discontinued in 2013, the Cartier Roadster may be gone, but it’s certainly not forgotten.
