What’s new about the Brellum Wyvern GMT LE1 Ghost Chronometer? If the name didn’t give you a clue already, I’m sure the picture answered the question. The latest iteration on the brand’s slim-and-sporty GMT model sees it taking on a black mantle. Both the dial and case have received a generous helping of the somber tone. However, it’s not all doom and gloom. The Wyvern’s signature color accents are still present, and the deep navy blue dial offers a subtle backdrop for the ensemble.

If you’ve kept up with our coverage of new releases, you’ll recognize the Brellum Wyvern GMT. I covered its release earlier this year and got a chance to go hands-on and share my experience with the watch. The Wyvern has a lot to offer. It combines contemporary looks with high-quality finishing and an impressive movement with the convenience of a GMT complication. 

The Brellum Wyvern GMT LE.1 Ghost Chronometer

In essence, the new limited edition release from Brellum, the Wyvern GMT LE.1 Ghost, maintains all the excellent features of the original. A thin case profile (10.9mm) means that it easily slips under any cuff, and wears extremely comfortably. The 42mm case size is familiar to anyone who enjoys the Omega Speedmaster Professional. It’s perfect for a modern sports watch. You can expect excellent timekeeping from its ETA-based caliber, BR-893-GMT with a second timezone function. Speaking of a second timezone, on this model, the GMT hand stands out with a red arrow tip. It matches the 24 on the GMT ring, as well as the “dual time” text on the dial. A black rehaut and GMT ring juxtapose nicely with the deep blue dial and white Super-LumiNova numerals.

The highlight of this limited-edition model is the beautifully finished black DLC case. I must admit it’s not something I would have thought of myself, but seeing how the finish transforms the watch, I understand why Brellum took it in this direction. The finish extends to the crown and case back. This includes the engravings and the recessed ring below the sapphire window to the movement. The dark look of the case means that the wonderfully finished gold-plated rotor shines when you flip the watch over. With 100m of water resistance and 42 hours of power reserve, you’ll enjoy all the convenience of modern watchmaking.

Final Thoughts

As I mentioned in my previous article, the GMT mechanism doesn’t function in the same way as the Rolex Explorer II or Tudor Black Bay GMT. There is no local jumping hour hand. Instead, you adjust the GMT hand independently. However, the dual-timezone functionality remains. With the added black finish and unique two-tone dial, the Brellum Wyvern GMT LE.1 Ghost Chronometer is sure to please fans of the standard model, especially those looking for something special and exclusive.
